Chalk Hill is a family owned wine company dedicated to making small batch, hand crafted wines of distinction.
The Harvey family grape growing heritage goes back six generations in South Australia, and we now have six vineyards spread across the beautiful McLaren Vale wine region. Our home vineyard was first planted in 1897 and these century old vines still bear fruit today.

The Chalk Hill Moscato is the perfect aperitif, and will also compliment grilled fish and a wide range of delicious desserts. It also forms the base for some exciting cocktails to enjoy on any occassion.
The balance between the low alcohol, natural fruit sweetness and the lifted aromatics in this wine, came with its challenges. Parcels of fruit are harvested at different times and the fermentation was closely monitored to ensure we bottle the wine at its aromatic peak. This wine is a gourmandise!

Vermentino is a new varietal in Australia. Widely planted across the Mediterranean coast of Italy and France, it's well suited to McLaren Vale's coastal location.
Vibrant and aromatic, the wine shows lifted tropical fruit with dried fennel and herbacious notes, and a fresh, zesty finish. A real crowd pleaser!

Sangiovese needs time and care to display its richness. The entire winemaking process is unhurried and gentle. This patience is rewarded with great concentration of flavour, soft acidity and balanced tannin.
Our Sangiovese is planted at the very top of Chalk Hill in shallow ironstone sand and produces small berries of intense colour and flavour.

Barbera is an amazing variety that offers great natural fruit balance combined with soft textured tannins. Due to these traits this wine is aged gently in large old oak vats. The leisurely maturation softens and enhances the flavours of this wine. The natural acidity and intense colour of this grape variety is intensified by the vineyard location. Our Barbera is planted at the very top of Chalk Hill in shallow ironstone sand. This location allows for the production of small berries with great depth of flavour and velvety tannins.
Chalk Hill Wines
A playful blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Cabernet Franc is a perfumed and aromatic variety which is known for its firm tannins. We try and achieve a balance between its wonderful perfume, the burst of fruit on the front palate and its fine tannic structure. The Merlot gives mid palate weight, and the Cabernet adds to the exceptional length.

Blending is the key with this wine. The strong Shiraz component demanded more Grenache is 2010. The Grenache brings perfume and bright red fruits which compiment well with darker fruit flavours of the Shiraz.
Chalk Hill Wines

The combination of a long cold soak maceration and extended time on skin followed by the subtle use of French oak delivers a superb, concentrated Cabernet. The 45 year old vines planted on sandy loam on the Chalk Hill Vineyard produce small bunches with intense, concentrated flavour. This vineyard consistently produces Cabernet Sauvignon with intense varietal character.
Chalk Hill Wines
A dense yet elegant wine with highly concentrated fruit. Brooding dark fruits with liquorice. The savouriness and oak complexity is balanced by the richness of fruit and silkiness of the tannin. Long, beautiful length with excellent persistence.
Chalk Hill Wines
The 2010 vintage produced wine with great varietal integrity, balance and length. 2010 wines will sit nicely in the cellar, or drink well as a younger vibrant style. The aromatics are fresh and vibrant with lots of floral notes, whilst the tannins are reflective of the even ripening throughout the growing season.
